Practice isn't learning
Practice isn't learning — it's improving what you already learned. Don't just loop practice. Make time to learn something new. Break the loop.
It's easy to mistake repetition for progress. You sit down, run through the things your hands already know, and it feels productive. But repeating what you can already do isn't the same as learning — it's polishing. Both matter, but only one of them moves you forward.
So balance your time. Give space to a proper warmup so you actually sound good, to technique so you can get around your instrument better, to projects that improve specific pieces, and to review so you keep your repertoire alive and have some fun while you're at it.
The point isn't to practice more. It's to make sure some of that time is spent learning something you couldn't do yesterday.
